If possible, use fresh seafood for your salad.
On a hot, muggy day, you might want a tall, cool glass of iced tea, a double-scoop of ice cream or perhaps a frosty beer to cool you down. But when it's steamy outside, you cannot survive on beverages alone. You have to eat, too. The last thing you want is a heavy meal, so cold salads that contain proteins as well as vegetables work best.
Instructions
Shrimp
1. Rinse the shrimp with the shells intact, and then pat dry with a paper towel.
2. Place the shrimp in a single layer on a baking pan, drizzle them with olive oil and sprinkle with pepper and salt.
3. Squeeze the lemon juice and Worcestershire over the shrimp and then shake on Tabasco sauce to taste.
4. Distribute the pats of butter over the shrimp.
5. Place the pan under the broiler for about 10 minutes or until the shrimp are no longer translucent.
6. Remove the pan from the oven using oven mitts.
7. Remove shells from the shrimp, and place the shelled shrimp in a separate bowl.
Macaroni
8. Fill a pot 2/3 full of water.
9. Add salt to the water and bring to a boil.
10. Put macaroni in the water and cook until it is al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes.
11. Drain the pasta in a colander and rinse with cold water.
12. Transfer the drained pasta to a bowl and place in the refrigerator.
Salad
13. Combine mayonnaise, vinegar, oil, salt and pepper in a small bowl and whisk until blended.
14. Remove the pasta from the refrigerator and pour the dressing over the cold pasta.
15. Add the shrimp, crab and vegetables and gently toss to mix ingredients.
